The smell of this cake cooking is heavenly, so I wasn't surprised to taste that first delicious bite. The crunchy edges are the best part! I used pecans and a bit more cinnamon. And of course a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The apples need to be peeled and I recommend cutting them in 1/3" squares. I'd give this recipe 10 stars if I could. It's a keeper!

I've had this recipe for years. We love that the top "crust" tastes like a Snickerdoodle Cookie. I gave it to an old neighbor of mine and she had taped it to the inside of one of her kitchen cabinet doors and forgot to take it when she moved! I was happy to oblige and give it to her and also happy to see it on line! It's great with low fat Cool Whip or ice cream too.

I'm a newbie in baking and the taste was great. The cake smells so great with flavors of apples and cinnamon exploding in your mouth. BUT the cake does not hold up very much. I thought i was making apple crumbs instead of an apple cake. Also, the cake is very uneven and mine has lots of holes on the surface making it pretty ugly. I'm sure it's me but can someone tell me why? Did i overmix the batter? But overall, this recipe is perfect for a really good dessert!
