  1. We liked this on a rainy evening. It smelled delicious and is comfort food. I did make several tweaks, so I will leave feedback in that section.

  2. I don't know what I did wrong. I followed the recipe exactly. Chicken was raw after 45 minutes.

  3. I added salt after everything was cooked and neither my husband or I found it bland. He really liked the rice and veggies better than the chicken. I will make this again but will cut my chicken up and mix it up with everything else.

  4. Bland and boring. I followed the recipe exactly. It took at least 70 minutes before the chicken was cooked, but the rice was still crunchy in the middle. Needed some salt, hot sauce, or something!!! I really wanted to like this because it is SO easy to make, but we just didn't. Will not make this again....ever.

  5. Dang. I read the other reviews, and based on those, didn't want to take a chance on raw chicken~ so I cut the breast halves into pieces. They dried out while I was waiting for the rice to cook. My bad. BUT The rice never cooked thoroughly in 55 minutes. I think I would try the half breasts as recipe called for, and add more water/time; OR par-cook the rice.

Tweaks

  1. I made it following the recipe and after assembling in the pan, it didn't look like it would be enough rice. I decided to dump it in a 13 x 9 glass baking dish and doubled the rice. I then added a regular size can of chicken broth to compensate. Sprinkled with paprika and salt/pepper.

  2. cut chicken into smaller pieces; used dried onion pieces - YUM, kitchen smelled amazing

  3. I do LIKE this recipe the way it is but I LOVE substituting the cream of mushroom for cambells cheddar cheese soup and use vigo yellow rice

I am retired and enjoying just being with my husband of 40 years. I live in West Central Georgia. I love to raise all kind of veggies and roses. My favorite cookbook is Cuisine At Home it is really very guided in telling you exactly how to prepare anything you cook and has pictures step by step. I guess my passions are loveing Dachshunds I've got 3 now and they are very sweet and so loveing. I guess my pet peeve is when I get a meal ready to put on the table my husband says "I'll be there in a minute" and it's more like 30 minutes. I use to reheat the meal but no more and he comes when I put it on the table. For fun I like to take my 3 Doxie's for a long walk.
