This was the best cod chowder I ever had. I loved this recipe. It allowed me to change it slightly to suit myself. I left out mushrooms, I used partly whole milk and half & half, cuz that's what I had on hand. I used fresh corn I just bought at a roadside stand. I added a dash of Maggi's, cuz I like it in practically everything. Thank you, Lennie, for sharing this fabulous, loving recipe.Â

Thank you for sharing your lovely recipe Lennie. I added a little extra cod, salt, pepper and butter. Used a combination of milk and half n half cream for a slightly thicker liquid.. This recipe made a lovely satisfying chowder, that was flavorful, silky and filling. We really enjoyed this chowder. I bet this would be a great base for clam chowder.Â

Had Lennie's husband not developed a severe allergy to white fish would we be without this tasty soup? A simple, tasty beach house meal. Add an october evening, offshore breeze and an Australian Shiraz. I have a severe aversion to celery so I replaced it with bacon and thickened it with a bit with flour.Â
