  1. I substituted black beans for the garbanzo beans and left out the vinegar (I was out), but it was still fabulous! My grandma made this for us all the time (except that we called them patio beans). Perfect for cool weather cookouts!

  2. Sooooo, good. I made this by cooking the beef, bacon and onion together, drained the excess grease and threw it in my slow cooker. Then I added the rest of the ingredients and stirred it well to combine all of the ingredients and cooked it on low for 4 hours. My 2-year old twin granddaughters devoured half of it! Never too soon to get fiber in your diet.

  3. Excellent. I cut this recipe in half, using only pork & beans and kidney beans. I also left out the white sugar as I thought they were plenty sweet. Very easy and quick to make. Thanks. Made for Gimme 5 Tag Game :)

  5. Very good, great for a crowd. I changed the sugar to a 1/4 cup of brown sugar and use maple flavor bacon when I can get it.
