Semolina Kasha

"Like most Russian children (and kids world-wide), breakfast-type kasha is hated with a passion. For mothers, though, kasha is the food of the Gods, it is a wonderful, healthy breakfast. Serve this kasha with different jams, preserved fruits or honey"

  1. Great breakfast dish. Sure i say that now that i'm a mother, but growin up in Russia having to eat this quite often, i wasn't thrilled with it. The way my father got me to eat it - he would shred chocolate into it instead of jam or honey. Was so yummy. and i don't think my mom put any sugar - the milk is sweet enough, plus the chocolate... Anyway, I suggest - try adding chocolate chips. Stir it a bit just to add the 'marble' visual effect as the chocolate melts, and serve. Your kids will eat it up (as did i)

Retired world traveler. I have collected recipes from many of the places I have been. Not the recipes from the local 5 star restaraunts but the cuisine that the REAL people eat! Lots of interesting stuff out there people eat! Love to try out those recipes I have collected now that I have the time. Only problem is finding the original ingredients. <img src="http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b399/susied214/projects/200_PACpic.jpg" border="0" alt="Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket">
