  • Combine all except pears in saucepan. Boil till sugar is dissolved then add pears.
  • Cover and cook 8-10 minutes turning occasionally.
  • When pears are barely tender remove from syrup and put in individual serving bowls.
  • Boil remaining syrup rapidly uncovered until reduced to 1 cup. Pour over pears.
  • Let cool before serving or serve chilled.

  1. I didn't use quite as much sugar and I served it with Gorgonzola cheese. Oh so good!!
     
  2. I would recommend brandy if you have it instead of wine it gives it a bit thicker of a sauce and worked out wonderfully. Outside that it worked out great.

I live in a small quiet town (you know the type...like Mayberry! :) I have a wonderful husband and have been married since October of 2004. We live with my mom and dad at the moment since we have a new addition to our family. Our baby boy Joseph was born March 22, 2007. But we are soon moving into our own place. Our favorite foods are fish, pasta, and vegetables of any kind. We are just a country cooking couple!
