Grilled Flank Steak

"This is a recipe that I got from my oldest son when he was a student at Purdue University in their Hospitality and Tourism program. This is the flank steak recipe that is served in the restaurant at the Student Union. Marinating time not included. This also works well on other cuts of steak."

  • Combine all ingredients except steak in a small bowl.
  • Mix well to combine.
  • Place flank steak in a large zip top bag.
  • Add marinade ingredients.
  • Refrigerate 8 hours or overnight.
  • When ready to cook, remove from marinade and discard marinade.
  • Grill 5 minutes per side.
  • Allow to rest 5-10 minutes after grilling before slicing.

  2. I omitted the salt. I used reduced-sodium soy sauce. The steak was in the marinade overnight. It had a really nice taste. So yummy. Thanks Lori :) Made for Gimme 5 tag game
     
  3. Great flavor. I took a tip from Nimz and marinaded longer. We used flat iron steak, cooked rare, tender and juicy. Made for holiday tag. A real keeper.
     
  4. This marinade is excellent. I actually marinaded mine for 2 days. I used a NY strip and it was so tender and juicy. Flavors were perfect. Thanks for sharing. :)
     
  5. Hmmm, mine didn't turn out right I think. I think I needed to marinate it longer, but has a good base flavor. I'll most likely try this again.
