Homemade Devonshire Cream

"I found this recipe years ago in a newspaper. It's a great substitute for the real thing. In fact, I prefer it, because it's sweeter. This is great with scones and a little jam or preserves on top. Perfect for afternoon teas or brunches."

Ingredients:: 3
Yields:: 9 ounces
Serves:: 4

ingredients

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
¹⁄₂ cup sour cream
2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar

directions

In small bowl, use your electric mixer to beat the cream cheese until fluffy.
Beat in the sour cream and confectioners sugar until well mixed.
Spoon into serving bowl and chill until serving time.

I've never tasted real Devonshire Cream so can't compare that - but made this to serve on top of Lemon-ginger scones and recipe#329758 and it was awesome. This made a great topping and seat of the lemon flavor wonderful. I didn't change a thing in the recipe and it was rated 5 stars be all that tried it.

Can't say if this is a great shoe-in for Devonshire cream, but I can tell you that it's A GREAT TOPPING/SPREAD ~ AND it works very well with homemade cranberry syrup on top of pancakes! Thanks for a great recipe! [Tagged, made & reviewed for one of my adoptees in the current Pick-A-Chef]
