Slim Turkey Sloppy Jose's

"I came up with this recipe one night when my bf wanted sloppy joes. We had a surplus of jalapenos from the garden, so I decided to spice them up. This was the final result and he claims it is "unparalleled." Feel free to down the spice by using mild or medium salsa or omitting the jalapeno."

 1. Great twist on a sloppy joe! It did have that traditional taste of a sloppy joe with a kick! I used lean ground turkey breast and splenda instead of sugar. I didn't cook the sauce ingredients ahead, just added them to the turkey and simmered it all for the full 60 minutes. Served this open-faced, topped with sour cream, lettuce and tomato and loved it - thanks for sharing the recipe! Made for Spring PAC 2010

I am a high school teacher in Omaha, Nebraska. My love for cooking started at a young age when I used to bake goodies for my father and his coworkers. When I got out on my own, I starting cooking for friends (especially my single male friends who were living on frozen pizza).

For years now, my friends and family wait all year for my Christmas bake-a-thon. I spend two days every year making a plethora of cookies, bars, and snack mixes to give as gifts.

I love to cook because food is the one thing that brings all people together (everyone has to eat sometime!) My husband to be teases me because sometimes he does not even get through his first bite before I am asking him if he likes it.
