ingredients
- 5 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 lb shortening
- 1 cup orange juice
directions
- Put 4 cups of flour into a mixing bowl ,Reserve last cup
- add salt mix together
- add 1 lb shortning cut into flour till crumbly.With pasty blender
- add 1 cup orange juice ,I use tang or orange crystals for this receipe
- I have used real orange juice both work fine
- Mix all together use remaining cup of flour on the counter for rolling add more if needed
- This receipe makes 2 double crust pies.

I am a beginner at baking pie's and this recipe is absolutely fabulous. I add all 5 cups of flour to the bowl and use fridge cold OJ. This recipe is very easy to roll out, does not crack and handles well. Once baked it has a wonderful texture and works very nicely for fruit and meat pies. For anyone who is frustrated or intimidated by making pies this recipe is the one for you. EnJoY!!!!

I have tried many pastry receipes and this is the ultimate it is simple and so Flaky and easy to roll and frezes great! I made the full receipe and cut it into 4 and froze 2 portions , For my next use and when I went to use the frozen pastry after thawing and rolld fantastick WOW what a great receipe the best I have ever experianced this is a must try pastry for anyone , Thanks Kim
