Sarah's Best Chili Recipe

"This recipe has more flavor than I thought it would, and it's meant to be devoured. I've been creating recipes left and right for the crockpot, and found a winner for the chili department. When browning the meat, make sure it's barely brown so it doesn't turn to cardboard tasting when it's done in the crockpot. Drain cans of beans for a thicker chili."

  1. A good basic chili. I did like cooking it in the slow cooker, while I had the stove tied up. Fixed just as directed. I will probably make some adjustments next time I fix it. (Just personal preferences.) Thnx for sharing your recipe, sarahcis. Made for PAC Spring 2010. You've been adopted! http://www.recipezaar.com/bb/viewtopic.zsp?t=327498&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

  2. This was good and easy to make. I did change up the recipe a bit. I only used 3 cans of beans and I used 1 can of black, 1 can of white beans and 1 can of kidney beans (personal preference). I also used crushed tomatoes instead of diced. I also added a 15 ounce can of tomato sauce because even with only using three cans of beans it didn't seem like there was enough sauce. I also only used two garlic cloves and 1 teaspoon each of salt and pepper as I thought 2 teaspoons was way too much for us. I also didn't add the cayenne pepper. Even with reducing the spices, I thought this was really spicy. I did top our servings with cheddar cheese. We enjoyed this but next time, I would reduce the pepper to 1/2 or 1/4 of a teaspoon.

  3. This chili was delicious! It was wonderful to have it in the crock pot during the Vikings game so the guys could grab a bowl during commercials. I got nothing but compliments on how good the chili was! I made exactly as directed, and served with sour cream, cheddar cheese, chopped green onions and corn chips. I will make this chili again - and I wouldn't change a thing. Thanks for sharing this wonderful crockpot chili recipe! I have posted a picture of the chili still in the crock pot. I made this for The New Kids on the Block Tag Game 1/4/09.
