  • Cake:

  • Place quick oats in a bowl and pour boiling water over the top. Stir and set aside.
  • Cream butter with sugar and brown sugar.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  • Add vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl combine flour and spices.
  • Add cooked oatmeal and the flour mixture to the butter mixture.
  • Stir until just combined.
  • Pour cake batter into a greased 9x13 cake pan.
  • Bake at 350 for 25 - 35 minutes.
  • Frosting:

  • Combine all frosting ingredients in a sauce pan.
  • Bring to a rolling boil for 1 minute.
  • Pour over hot cake.
  • Allow cake to cool before slicing.
