directions

  • 1.) Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • 2.) In medium bowl, combine prepared broth, ketchup, tamari and TVP. Mix to combine and let stand 10 minutes until the liquid is absorbed.
  • 3.) Add remaining ingredients, except topping. Mix well.
  • 4.) Pack mixture into a 9 x 5 loaf pan or a glass casserole. (Many people making this suggest just forming into a loaf on a baking sheet.) Bake 40-45 minutes.
  • 5.) If using topping, spread on loaf during the last 10 minutes of baking.

Questions & Replies

  1. I made this recipe, and it's excellent. However, I ran the nutritional information through 2 different recipe builders, and it's way off base for nutritional values. You might want to update or change the serving sizes.

  2. I don't understand the method part of the recipe. What's the topping? All I can see is the liquids, tvp, seasonings, oats and seeds... Am I missing something?

Reviews

  1. We were really impressed by this recipe, especially how well it held up. I formed it into a loaf on foil and cooked it for 22 minutes in the pressure cooker. Very firm.

  2. Fabulous! Made for non-vegans for a potluck. This dish was empty first! Everyone enjoyed! Thank you for something new to do with TVP.

  3. It is a fantastic recipe but the flax seed has to be very fine and (i noted) better if one adds an egg. However you could try more flax seed powder

  4. This turned out amazing and I will be making it again. I put a organic ketchup, brown rice syrup and coconut palm sugar on top as the glaze. It tastes better than the "meat or turkey" meatloaf I made when I was eating meat. Thank you so much for sharing this recipe. LOVE IT!!

  5. My loaf didn't hold up at all. It was like a TVP crumble. Flavor was okay, after I added salt. I won't be making this again.

Tweaks

  1. I used the TVP with the oats and chia seeds and then added the glaze on top. It was so yummy...
