Pork Chops with Mushroom Gravy

  • In large plastic bag, combine the flour, paprika, salt and pepper.
  • Add pork chops, one at a time; tossing to coat.
  • Set remaining flour mixture aside.
  • In skillet, saute chops in butter until golden brown; transfer to a greased 13x9x2-in baking dish.
  • In same skillet, saute the onion, mushrooms and green pepper until translucent and tender.
  • Stir in reserved flour mixture; gradually add milk until well blended.
  • Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.
  • Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice.
  • Pour sauce over chops, cover and bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes or until the meat is no longer pink.
  • Serve with Mashed Potatoes.

  1. So good.i substituted 2 TBSP. Worcestershire Sauce for the lemon juice and 1 cup sour cream for 1 of the cups of milk and it was great.

  4. These chops were really good. I used fresh mushrooms, 1 cup of light sour cream for 1 of the cups of milk and I also used Worcestershire sauce for the lemon juice and served with eggs, hashbrowns, applesauce and toast. YUMMY. The gravy was so good over the hashbrowns and the chops were very tender, thanks!
     
  5. Nice and tender and very flavorful. I made as directed using 1" thick chops and did have to cook a bit longer than stated. I used fresh mushroom and also had to add a bit more butter when sauteing the vegetables. The gravy was very nice and also went well with our side of mashed potatoes. Thanks, Becky!

  1. This was an excellent baked pork chop recipe. My husband has commented 3 times (since dinner) about how good the gravy was. I used fresh mushrooms instead of canned and also subbed 1/2 cream and 1/2 skim milk for the total amount of milk needed. I did add a bit of seasoned salt after the gravy had thickend (and before I poured it over the chops to bake), as I thought it needed just a tiny flavor boost. Mmmm. We will make these chops again. Thanks for posting.

My favorite cookbooks are those that belonged to my mom and her mom, most of the pages are battered and torn and I'm trying really hard to get these in new pages and on disks for my own two precious girls. Besides cooking, my passion lies in Scrapbooking! I just love scrapbooking and have a fortune invested in it...lol. (All of you scrappers know what I mean) This is one of the best hobbies I know, because I get to take the most important people in my life and compile books about our life together. I would love to do the scrapbooking retreats, but with little ones...it's hard! aw...but one day.....
