directions

  • Cut out 12 squares of aluminium foil, about 20cm square a piece.
  • Divide into four piles of three squares each to give you plenty of layers of foil between the food and the grill.
  • Oil and butter the top half of one square on each pile.
  • Divide the mushrooms equally over the greased foil.
  • Scatter over the garlic, chives, salt and pepper and dot with butter.
  • Fold the foil around the mushrooms into a sealed packet.
  • Cook for 10 minutes over a medium-hot BBQ, turning after 5 minutes.
  • Serve straight from the foil.

  1. Excellent! We went camping last weekend and I made these to serve with barbecued lamb chops. The garlic butter was delicious and we will definitely use this recipe again. Thanks Friedel and good luck on the road trip :)

  2. This was very good, I think I will take this recipe to my next camping trip.Great outdoor recipe!!

  3. I've tried so many mushroom recipes and just don't care for them. This one is awesome! I've made it 3 times since I've printed the recipe out. One of the times I added sliced onions with the mushrooms. I cooked them in the oven using Derf's instructions (Perfect) and would also like to try them BBQ'd some time this summer. Thanks!

  4. Very good mushrooms, I cut the recipe back to one package and cooked them in 400f degree oven for about 25 minutes, turning them once. They turned out great, lots of taste with the garlic and chives fresh from the garden. Mmmm Butter and mushrooms just seem to be right together!! Thanks for sharing, will look forward to trying them on the BBQ.

This is a picture of me and my husband in Portugal, climbing up above the clouds with our bikes. Right now we are travelling around the world on our bicycles, so I only pop onto Zaar occasionally, when internet connections and time allow me to. If I don't reply to a message about one of my recipes, now you know why! Our trip may take several years so if it's urgent, it's probably better for you to post in the forums ;) Good food is really important to me -- I am happy to pay extra for food that I feel is produced in a sustainable and ethical way and always try to eat using seasonal produce. When we were in the UK we rarely shopped at supermarkets, trying instead to favour small producers, although we were very lucky in that we lived in London and there was lots of choice. We also were fortunate enough to have a weekly organic veg box delivered to our door, filled with so many lovely vegetables for very little money. It really opened my horizons in terms of the variety of vegetables I eat. If you're in the UK, check out Riverford for a box supplier as they're amazing! When I'm not eating I love to take pictures and travel with my husband. <img src="http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y53/DUCHESS13/World%20Tour/ZWT2.gif">
