- 1 package Kool-Aid, unsweetened
- 6 cups water
- paper towels
- plastic wrap
directions
- Be very sure to use UNSWEETENED.
- Mix one packet of Kool-Aid with the water in a pot.
- Heat until boiling, stirring.
- Remove from heat and cool to a temperature that is warm but not hot.
- Dip as much hair as possible into the mix.
- Then, with your head over the pot, ladle the kool-aid over the hair.
- Do this for 15 minutes.
- Wring out hair and pat dry with paper towels.
- Don't wrap in a towel as it will absorb too much colour.
- At this point you could wrap your hair in plastic wrap and leave overnight or for several hours.
- Then, uncover and let dry.
- After it dries, rinse repeatedly, shampoo and condition.
- Note: The excess colour may stain your skin.
- Smear petroleum jelly on exposed skin.
- Even if staining occurs, it will scrub off.

I've tried this way before, but that's too much water - the color will be diluted. I generally would use about 1/2c of water for shoulder-length hair. What I've learned since then is to mix the kool-aid into hair conditioner. Wash your hair and apply the mixed conditioner. Allow to sit overnight (if possible). Then rinse hair and do not shampoo for the first 24-hours. It works much better than water method!

I have found that on darker hair using 2 pkgs. of kool aid and 3 cups boiling water , and 2-3 tbl. of corn starch works better. Instead of just a rinse, this makes a paste that sits in the hair for a few hours. I had some old shower caps (from a hotel vacation) that I used instead of plastic wrap, because long hair can get pulled or yanked with it. I am now the proud parent of pink haired kids. Good luck all!

It's a big city now, with all the big city advantages and disadvantages. I miss the small town feel but love the restaurant choices and the people friendly improvements.
My writing is mainly non fiction on historical bits, and I have brief and so far unsuccessful forays into historical fiction. Someday.....
I don't think I'm a great cook but I'm the kind of cook who can walk into the kitchen and find good things in the fridge and pantry and make it into a meal that everyone thinks is pretty darn good. Sometimes I use a recipe and sometimes...not so much.
I have a great collection of cookbooks, and I love reading them and studying the pictures. Sometimes I even cook the recipes, LOL! And that is why I love Zaar, an unending source of recipes and pictures. It's heaven!
