Festive Cranberry Cheese Spread

"This is an Ortega recipe that I found online before the holidays last year. Everyone loves it. I make a double batch and freeze it in 4 separate containers. Makes a great appetizer w/ little effort."

  1. One of the selections offered at an appetizer party celebrating a special birthday this past week. Liked the cream cheese and cranberries combined with the chilies and green onion. Makes for a very attractive appetizer. Froze the second platter as suggested can be done. Thank you for sharing.

  2. I prepared this as one of the many offerings on the buffet at my holiday open house. While I liked the blend of sweet and spicy, others were not so impressed. It was basically ignored, although it did have a festive presentation.

  3. We really enjoyed this. Great combination of flavors; spicy but not overly so, with the sweet-tart taste of cranberries. Thanks for the tip about freezing - I froze half and look forward to having this again in the near future. Although I made this in the middle of the summer, I can see this as a wonderful (and easy!) idea for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

  4. I loved this recipe and will bring it to the beach for when I visit friends and we hang out on their porch. Wonderful treat, special I think. Lolly

  5. This is a very tasty spread for crackers. Don't be put off by the appearance -- I think it might be more attractive if you used a mixer to blend everything, but then it might puree the ingredients too much. I did leave out the green onions as I thought they might contrast too much with the green chilies. This reminds me of jalapeno pepper jelly which is generally poured over a brick of cream cheese except this dish is all combined together. Made for Fall PAC, 2012.

Hi. I'm padreaming and live in Central PA. I work full time and love to cook. Problem is I made a lifestyle change 30 pounds ago and find it difficult not to cook the things I love. Baking is my favorite. How can you bake and not eat it too?!?!?!?!? <br>I enjoy reading and traveling. Hope to be able to travel alot in my later years. Trouble is I spend too much time reading romance novels and not near enough time planning my retirement monies ? May just spend my retirement reading instead of traveling ?
