  1. Very close ,but you're overcomplicating it. =) It's literally Penne pasta, and equal parts heavy cream and Velveeta. So you would melt 4oz. of cheese with 4oz. of heavy cream and pour it over the pasta and toss. I know this for a fact. Wink-wink. =)

  2. Audie521 has got it right! 4 oz. of cheese with penne pasta in microwave, then add 4 oz. of heavy cream and stir. I also know this for a fact LOL :D

  3. This is not an outaback copycat. Have not made it, but just looking at ingredients i know it's not it. Having eaten there many, many times, i can tell you it has a blend of two cheese's. one white and one yellow but i haven't figured them out yet. I keep on searching recipe sites and to no avail yet......

  4. "Some of the best macaroni and cheese I've ever eaten." Actual quote! I loved the texture.

  5. I had some Kraft Singles in the fridge & wanted to make them into mac & cheese: this was a good one! I did saute a little onion before adding the flour as suggested by rkdance. Next time I might put breadcrumbs or french fried onions on top & broil a few min.

  1. So good! I made this last night - I was craving mac and cheese. Can't believe how easy and tasty this was! Only change I made was using colby jack cheese instead of processed as that was all I had. Thanks Kzim4!

  2. I've never had the Outback Mac and Cheese, but this recipe is a keeper, and anyone who loved the box stuff (me) would probably like this. A couple of things I did different, I used cornstarch instead of flour, and added more salt and pepper as well. The cheese sauce seems to look very thin when cooking but comes out great. Thanks for the recipe!

With 5 kids and a hungry husband to feed, I'm always looking for good, budget friendly meals. We generally eat meals that use little meat (I try to use 1 lb or less per dinner, and none the rest of day), so that means lots of casseroles and meats with gravy. I enjoy baking, so bread recipes and desserts tend to get saved more frequently than others. I'm especially partial to chocolate and lemon (although not together).
