Grilled Flank Steak With Lime-chipotle Sauce

  • Mix honey with chilies, mustard, lime juice, garlic, cumin, allspice and cilantro.
  • Season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Marinate steak at least 1 hour, or overnight.
  • Drain off marinade into small saucepan and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Grill or barbecue steak, basting with marinade, 5- minutes per side, according to preference.
  • Slice steak against the grain and pour remaining marinade over meat.

  1. Wonderful flavor! So easy to put the marinade together. I didn't have enought lime juice and substituted some orange juice. About 1/2 lime and 1/2 orange juices. Fantastic! I put this together in the morning and let it marinate all day. We served with black bean and corn salad, warm tortillas and mexican rice. Wonderful meal - thanks for a great, easy recipe!
     
  2. Delicious! I read the other reviews and decided to cut the marinade by half. I only had a 1 1/4 pound flank steak. The sauce was great! It was my first time cooking with the chipotle pepper. When I first made the marinade, it didn't seem too spicy (so I added the full amt of chipotle in the marinade). It was sweet and right after the sweetness, the spiciness kicked in (I think I was too generous with the smoked jalapeno). All in all, I liked the taste of it, makes me think of spicy bbq sauce, but better. I will definitely be making it again. Since there is lime juice in here, I think it "cooked" the steak a bit, so when I pan fried the flank steak I overcooked it a bit, but the sauce was still wonderful. Next time I will cook less time. Thanks for a great marinade. I can't wait to try this on chicken.
     
  3. Absolutely delicious! I had large chipotles and added 2 tsp of the adobe sauce. Whewheee!!! Spicy!! This is one of those "great" recipes that will be handed down. Loved the slightly blackened, sweet but spicy crust. We absolutely adored this. It's spicy, but has a kick and sweetness that is just delicious. We'll definitely make this one again, thanks for sharing!
     
  4. Excellent!! I only made up half of the marinade and had plenty to use for the two of us. I marinated the steaks for 4 hours and they came out wonderfully flavorful & tender.
     
  5. Delicious! This makes a lot of marinade -- enough for a couple of good sized steaks. I only marinated my steak for about 1 hour and it was tender and delicious! Thanks for sharing!

<p>latest update, as all my fb friends know i have been very ill for the past 4 mos, but now i am on the road ro recovery. i've had 2 surgeries and broke nt elbow a week after the first one, which basically incapacitatedme forr 2 mos. happy to say i am doing pt, anf will hopefully be able to cook again</p> <p>i stopped working so i could spend more time in my fla house renovating, but this was a minor setback, going to do the bathrooms this summer.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p><br />in NY i used to have an (at home) jewelry business, but i incorporated it into the store's gift dept., they sell it for me now. <br />cooking is my passion, my hobby, my relaxation, but i love going out for a good meal anytime. being born and growing up in manhattan, ny gave me the opportunity to try many new foods over the years, in many great restaurants. and travelling with my dh enlightened me to the wonderful ingredients and cuisines of san francisco, among other places. <br />the new corporate spouse deal is to do a day of cooking lessons/lunch, and shopping, so i have seen demo classes in ft lauderdale, san antonio, atlanta in the past few years plus taken a few cooking classes in chinese dim sum and noodles in joseph poon's, in philly. <br />several years ago i had the pleasure of being on several of the food network shows, ready set cook and taste test, which was like food jeopardy. i didn't win either, but it was so much fun!
