Longan
The fruit of an evergreen tree native to southeast Asia. Longans are small (1 inch diameter) and round with a thin brown shell and a large black seed. The pulp is white, soft and juicy and has a delicate, sweet taste. Longans can be eaten as a snack or used in Asian soups, sweet-and-sour dishes and desserts. Available fresh in Asian markets from July to August.
