After cameos in the HBO scripted series Treme; after hosting PBS’s Mind of a Chef; after launching his newest docu-series Ugly Delicious on Netflix, David Chang is taking his next steps toward starting his very own media empire.

The Momofuku Restaurant Group founder’s plans to launch a food media platform—named “Majordomo Media,” after his Los Angeles restaurant of the same name—were announced on Monday morning, by the Hollywood Reporter.

Chang revealed in a statement that the media brand would deal with all aspects of culture, from food to travel to music to sports, and would aim to teach people “how to find—and understand—new and different things themselves and let them bring their friends along for the ride.”

He begins the venture—which will create media in podcast, television, film and flat editorial formats—with his business partner, Christopher Chen, and Wired magazine’s former editor-in-chief, Scott Dadich.
Dadich described Majordomo Media as “rollicking, occasionally profound, and frequently profane.”

So far, the Majordomo Media team includes veterans from Conde Nast, Los Angeles magazine and Chang’s now-defunct magazine Lucky Peach.

Lucky Peach closed in 2017 due to “creative differences among its partners,” brought about at a “crucial moment in its growth,” according to the New York Times. Chang’s Netflix series, Ugly Delicious, retained the disjointed editorial style of the magazine, and could serve as a harbinger of what Majordomo Media will have to offer.
