These might just be too cute to eat.
Celebrate the holidays with the Internet's favorite kitten, Pusheen. Whether you're a cat-lover or have a serious sweet tooth these kitty-shaped sweets will put you in the holiday spirit. Gift them to friends and family as a unique present or enjoy them with a big mug of hot cocoa. Either way, Pusheen is sure to make your Christmas paw-some!
1 PREPARE COOKIE DOUGH
Whip up a batch of cookie dough to get started. Get the recipe.
Add a few drops of brown food coloring, or a few teaspoons of cacao powder, one spoon at a time until the desired color is achieved. Cover cookie dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours.
2 CUT SHAPES
On a very lightly floured surface, roll the cookie dough with a rolling pin until it is 1/4 inches thick. Create a paper template by tracing Pusheen’s outline onto a piece of paper and cut out the shape. Now using a knife, trace the paper template on the cookie dough.
3 PREPARE TO BAKE
Line cookie sheets with parchment paper and place cookies 2-inches apart on cookie sheet. Preheat oven and bake at 400°F for 4-6 minutes. Place cookies on wire racks to cool completely before icing.
4 START ICING
Mix the ingredients for your icing in a small bowl until it starts to look smooth and glossy. Get the recipe.
Divide icing into 4 bowls and add red, green, white and brown food coloring to each bowl separately. Add icing into a piping bag (or plastic bag with a tiny hole) and start piping onto the cookies using a toothpick to remove any bubbles and to smooth out the edges.
5 ADD FINISHING TOUCHES
Add the second layer of icing including designs on the sweaters and the finishing touches to Pusheen. Allow icing to set for 12-24 hours before serving. Enjoy!
