directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Combine all ingredients and mix for a FULL 10 minutes.
  • Yes, I said a full 10 minutes!
  • Mixture will start out very dry and crumbly but will become batter like after the full 10 minutes.
  • I like to use my stand mixer for this, but a hand mixer will do the trick if it is a strong one.
  • Drop from teaspoons or a piping bag onto a cookie sheet, I find teaspoons work best.
  • Decorate with maraschino cherries or sprinkles if you feel fancy.
  • Bake for approx 15 minutes or until bottoms are very lightly brown.
  • Watch that the tops don't turn brown!

  1. Salted or unsalted butter

  2. Plain or self rising flour

  3. These look yummy! I love shortbread cookies. Is icing sugar powdered sugar?

  4. What temperature should the butter be, room temp, soften, cold, etc?

  5. But is it all purpose flour or self rising?

  1. A great quick treat! Recipe is very simple and the end product melts in your mouth. I used a teaspoon to drop the cookies and got a fleet of these bite-sized melters. I baked two ways, one was dusting the dropped dough with granulated sugar and flattening down the cookie - this resulted in a more crispy cookie, which tasted fine, but I preferred the cookies straight from the dough drop - any irregularities on top baked to a golden brown which looked and tasted delicious. Perfect with a glass of milk.

  2. This recipe should not be in the lactose free category when the first ingredient is butter.

  3. These are very yummy. Followed the directions exactly. Wish I had a stand mixer, but was able to do it with a hand mixer. And I was doubtful at first about everything coming together, but it does. They def melt in your mouth. I'm going to be freezing the dough to give away to neighbors.

  4. These cookies are pretty close in flavor to Walkers. The texture is much lighter. They literally melt in your mouth which makes them extremely dangerous because you could eat the whole batch. So good and too easy to make.

  5. Definitely melt in your mouth! And super easy to make. Great when you're craving cookies and fast!

Tweaks

  1. Made your cookies so good and yes u must do the 10 mins thank u

  2. 325° is a better temperature for these.

  3. Very good when you are needing a sweet treat and haven't made a trip to the grocery in a while because everyone always has those 3 ingredients on hand. Since I didn't want plain old shortbread cookies I substituted 1/4 cup of the flour for cocoa powder, added a dash of salt, and a few drops of vanilla extract. After the 10 min of beating I added chocolate chips then baked according to recipe. They turned out great. I don't like how crumbly they are only because I have 3 little boys who make messes with them but they were a big hit with them and was told to add this to my frequent dessert list!

  4. these were soooooo easy and they really do melt in your mouth!! I made them one morning before work, thats how easy they are. I did have to bake them longer than 15 minutes though to get them to brown on the bottom, but they were so sweet and delicate once they were done. I also used margarine instead of butter and it was ok. I will definetaly make these again!! I love them!!! Thanks!

  5. Not sure what I did wrong with the recipe cause I fellowed the recipe as stated. I found that the cookies didn't stick together very well, they broke up before you could pick them up off the platter. We loved the flavor though and thats why I am giving it a 4 star rating. They were simple to make. I used margarine instead of butter so that might be the reason for the problems I had. I will be trying the recipe again with butter instead of margarine. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
