  1. 5 slices of bacon? For one sandwich? Is that correct? Well, I made ours with two slices. Love the sandwiches. I lightly grilled crumpet bread on the stove top grill and instead of regular cheddar we tried Irish Dubliner and next time I will try smoked Dorset. I also added a few baby spinach leaves to our sandwiches. Yum! Made for Mommy Diva's Cook-a-Thon.

  2. This is a GREAT sandwich! I used Trader Joe's sweet hot mustard, and toasted the 12-grain bread ~ I believe I sliced my Granny Smith apple too thin, and into too many slices, because some of them escaped before the cheese melted, when turning the toasted sandwich! Made for the January 2012 Mommy Diva Cookathon!

  3. This made a terrific sandwich, my houseguests loved it. I used "Smart bread" because it has the whole wheat while looking white lol. Cheddar and apples and bacon are a super combination.

  4. I really enjoyed this sandwich and will definitely be making again! Used turkey bacon, 12 grain bread, and the full tablespoon of dijon mustard. Couldnt find shredded white cheddar so I used mild yellow and it worked well with the bacon and apples. I think next time I will toast the bread but either way this is a great sandwich.

  5. I must admit that I was VERY sceptical about this one. Being from the Midwest and living right next door to cow country warmed me up to the idea of apples and cheese. My mom's mom used to fry up apples and bacon together when I was a kid and I LOVED IT! The Mustard thing kinda threw me off, but I tried it, and I must say that the flavors really worked. I used creole mustard which I deluded with a splash of ranch dressing. I also used braeburn apples that had been coated with lemon juice. Nice sweet and sour flavor achieved. The mustard really bound all the flavors together and gave it a zing that it needed for seasoning purposes. I lightly toasted my bread, and I put the cheese side slice under the broiler to melt the cheese with the mustard. I then threw on the apples and bacon. Different- and maybe not something I'd eat often, but really good.
