  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water and apple juice. Add the cornstarch and blend until smooth. Add the cider vinegar, honey and spices. Boil for 5 minutes.
  2. Let the sauce cool for at least 30 minutes. Before serving, add the beets and butter and bring mixture back to a boil.
