Alice's Basic Fruit Smoothies

"My sugar free and much less expensive version of the ever popular smoothie! I got tired of paying $5 or more for ONE smoothie. You can change the fruits around to suit your taste. The combos are endless! I've also used peaches, raspberries, and mangos in the past. I've also added ground golden flaxseeds for those Omega oils. The recipe below is "per blender". Depending on the size of your blender, this could be too much, or could be very little. Adjust according to your blender."

directions

  • In a blender, layer 1 cp strawberries, 1/2 cp blueberries, 1 cp yogurt, approx 1/2 cup milk, or more for thinner smoothie, and vanilla extract. Start out by mixing it til blended, then set on puree for one minute, longer for more processed smoothies.
  • This also freezes VERY well. I'll make a double batch and put 1 gallon away in the freezer, so I don't have to make it so often.

  1. A very good smoothie, and without a banana, which I don't always want in my smoothies. I used a mix of frozen unsweetened berries (black, blue, straw) and subbed some cherry extract for the vanilla, since I used low-fat sugar free vanilla yogurt. I also cut the recipe down to serve 2. I will try it again in larger amounts and try freezing it to take in the RV, where I hate trying to use a blender. :) Made for Spring 2008 PAC.

I'm a married nurse, mom to our mini pin, Chuy, and no children. My husband and I both love to take short and long trips on our motorcycle and we love taking our 35ft travel trailer! We love cooking together and ever since hubby got a smoker for his birthday, we're enjoying wonderful smoked meats and veggies and even desserts! We love to crock pot cook and grilling is always preferred over indoor cooking.
