All-American Apple Pie

- 1 unbaked double crust pie shell (9-inch)
- 6 medium granny smith apples
- 3⁄4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
- 1 egg white, lightly beaten
directions
- Preheat oven to 400°F.
- FILLING: peel, core, and slice apples. In a large bowl, toss apples with sugar, flour and cinnamon. Pour into unbaked pie crust; dot with butter. Cover with top crust; seal and flute edge. Brush with egg white. Cut slits for steam to escape.
- Roll additional crust to 1/8-inch thickness. With small 1 1/2-inch star cookie cutter, cut 20-25 stars. Place 1 star on rim of top crust, brush with egg glaze. Repeat until rim is covered.
- In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and sugar; sprinkle over crust. Bake for 30-40 minutes, until pie is golden brown and apples are tender.

<br>I guess the dish that I am famous for is my Christmas ham - my family all comes home for Christmas, and if i don't have my ham they are dissapointed, and my grandson wants the pistachio squares!!! so I guess that is the dishes that I'm famous for.
