  1. In a medium saucepan, cook onions and garlic in oil until soft. Add remaining ingredients. Simmer 10 minutes. Remove bay leaf. Makes 2 cups. Use on meatloaf, pot roast, swiss steak, or use 2 cups sauce to make the following: Spaghetti Sauce: add 1/2 lb. cooked Italian sausage or ground beef, 1 (4oz.) can mushrooms,sliced, and 1/2 teaspoons Italian herb seasoning. Simmer 10 minutes.
  2. BBQ Sauce: add 1/4 cup brown sugar mixed with 2 teaspoons cornstarch, 1 teaspoons dry mustard, 1 beef bouillon cube, 2 Tblsp. vinegar, 1 Tblsp. water and 1/4 teaspoons worcestershire sauce; simmer 10 minutes.
  3. Minestrone: add 3/4 cup each canned beef broth,water; boil. Add 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables, and 1/2 cup pasta. Cover; simmer 7-10 minutes.
  4. Texas Chili: add 1/2 lb. cooked ground beef, 1 (16oz.) can kidney beans, 1 Tblsp. each chili powder and diced canned green chilies and 1/4 teaspoons cumin.
