Allo Aloe

"A fabulously healthy juice drink from Australian chef flip shelton's 'green: modern vegetarian recipes'. Commenting on aloe vera, she says that it "has been described as a natural healer because it contains many essential amino acids, vitamins, minerals, proteins and enzymes" and she suggests giving youself "a dose whenever you feel low". From the instructions, this is clearly intended to be made using a juicer, but you could use a blender. You would then get the whole of the cucumber and apple, not just the juice. If doing this, obviously remove the apple core!"

  1. This is a wonderful juicer recipe. I loved it. My kids were put off by the green color, but they tried it at least. It was very healthy and so good for you. Made and Reviewed for 123 Hit Wonders Tag - Thanks! :)

  2. Very tasty, tart and tangy healthy drink. I also made this in my blender and did not peel my apple. Made and reviewed for Potluck Tag. Thanks for posting!

  3. Very nice and thick! I too used the blender, out of just not wanting to haul out the juicer from the cabinet. I didn't peel either, but only cored the apple. I figured I wouldn't have done so in the juicer anyway. I've been on a hunt for recipes that use aloe vera, and I'm glad I came upon this one! Very quick and easy to make, and the taste of the granny smith really masks the icky taste of aloe. Thanks for a recipe I'll definiteley be using again, bluemoon!

  4. Very refreshing great for the summer! I did make in the blender. I peeled the cucumber and left the skin on the apple!

July 2008 update: VERY happy to be back on Zaar after about a two year absence due to having had no internet connection at home, and having been too unwell for a time so that getting re-connected wasn't even a priority! <br> <br>And really looking forward to getting back into the Zaar world and connecting again with the many wonderful people I knew before, and new people, of course!
