Ingredients Nutrition

  • 34 cup butter, plus 1 tbsp. softened and divided
  • 34 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 12 teaspoon almond extract
  • 12 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 12 cups all-purpose flour
  • 14 teaspoon salt
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 34 cup chopped almonds, toasted

Directions

  1. Cream 3/4 cup butter and sugar; beat in egg yolk and extracts, mixing well.
  2. Blend in flour and salt.
  3. Spread dough evenly onto bottom of ungreased 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
  4. Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Melt chocolate in double boiler over simmering water.
  6. Remove from heat and add remaining 1 tablespoon butter.
  7. Beat until chocolate is glossy.
  8. Spread over baked crust and sprinkle with almonds.
  9. Cool to allow chocolate to set.
  10. Cut into bars.
