  1. This soup is SPECTACULAR!!!!! And so easy to make!!!!!

  2. My family loves this soup. I use chicken stock in place of the water and locally-made beer bratwurst.

Tweaks

  1. Though I changed up the recipe based on the ingredients I had on hand and did not make it in a crockpot - mainly because the only brown lentils I had were Trader Joe’s precooked lentils sold in their produce aisle. So I used 2 packages of those! And instead of bratwurst, I only had English bangers that I skinned and rolled into meat balls. I browned those plus all the vegetables in the recipe - then I added the seasonings and a quart of beef stock! When that was boiling, I added the precooked lentils and let it return to a boil - done!!!! We topped our bowls with crepe fraiche - way better than sour cream!!!
