  • In medium saucepan, combine all ingredients except the amaretto.
  • Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  • Reduce heat, boil gently, 8 to 10 minutes, or until slightly thickened.
  • Remove from the heat; stir in amaretto.
  • Serve warm.

  1. I made this sauce to drizzle over pound cake for a Pokeno game and everyone raved about it - it is very rich and creamy. I did simmer mine for a total of 15 minutes because it seemed to be still be a little thin after 10 minutes. Once it reached room temperature it was the perfect drizzling consistency. It was absolutely wonderful drizzled over the pound cake. I can't wait to try it over ice cream! Thanks for a great recipe, Barb!
