  1. This was a great recipe and the icing was great. I used a blend of raisins and golden raisins but that is the only thing that I 'tweaked'. Thank you!!

  2. Thank you for adding this recipe. My mother would buy these french apple pies from a "hole in the wall" bakery in St. Petersburg Florida back during the 60's. The pies were wonderful! The baker was able to keep his upper-crust flat and beautiful with the icing. I hope to learn how to do that too. Thank you again for posting this recipe! Lori

  3. My Dad's Birthday is today and he's been talking about the French Apple pie with raisins and icing his Mom used to get when he was a kid 50+ years ago in New York, he hasn't had it in decades. I'm surprising him with it later today! I couldn't find a better recipe then yours, thank you so much!

  4. Perfect! This was just what I was looking for... friends parents were visiting, and her dad always ordered French Apple Pie if it was on the menu, so I told her I'd make one. I substituted Craisins for the raisins, and her Dad said it was the best one he's ever had.

  5. Thank you for this recipe! Just what my neighbor requested for Thanksgiving dessert.
