American Bliss

"The recipe comes from First magazine. It looks like a pretty dessert in the magazine but after making it, I have to say that you need to be VERY careful with the layers. Be SURE that your layers are set. Also make sure your cream layer is sealed against the side of the glass the entire way around. I did not and when I added my second jello layer, it oozed underneath the cream layer and floated it to the top. :{ I did not end up with pretty layers. I think it might be better to partially set the remaining jello before you put it in as the second jello layer. Maybe it will not be so likely to run under the cream layer that way.I will rewrite the directions to reflect this. Time does not include chilling time."

directions

  • In a bowl, combine 1 cup boiling water with jello powder.
  • Stir 2 minuted until powder is dissolved.
  • Add 1 cup cold water.
  • Stir 2 minutes to combine.
  • Pour mixture into a 4 cup glass measuring cup for easier pouring.
  • Pour 1/4 cup of jello into 4 dessert glasses.
  • Chill 60 minutes or until jello is set.
  • Let remaining jello sit at room temperature.
  • In a large bowl, combine heavy cream, marshmallow cream and almond extract.
  • Blend 2 minutes on med. or until soft peaks form.
  • Put 1/4 cup whipped cream mixture in each glass on top of jello, smoothing to create a flat surface.
  • Be sure to seal the cream layer against the side of the dessert glasses in order to prevent the next jello layer from oozing under it.
  • Chill 60 minutes.
  • While the cream mixture is chilling, place the remaining jello in the fridge to begin setting up.
  • Do not let it completely set up-just let it get thicker.
  • Top with remaining jello.
  • Chill 60 minutes.
  • Top cream layer with remaining whipped cream mixture.
  • Chill 2 hours or until set.
  • Top with fresh blueberries.
