"This is the biscuit recipe my grandmother and aunt made for Thanksgiving and other big events. I make it every year now. Makes fluffy and light biscuits. Great chilled with leftovers."

  • Sift dry ingredients into a larger mixing bowl.
  • Add shortening and mix until coarse.
  • Dissolve yeast in warm water and add to mixture.
  • Add buttermilk.
  • Mix until smooth.
  • Put in greased bowl and cover.
  • Cool in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  • Knead dough.
  • Cut into biscuits.
  • Bake until tops of biscuits brown.
