- 1 lb pinto beans
- 1 small yellow onion
- 3 -4 jalapenos or 3 -4 serrano peppers, or
- 1 habanero pepper
- 8 -10 garlic cloves
- 2 -3 ham hocks
- water, to cover beans by 2 inches
- black pepper
- salt
directions
- Pick beans and soak overnight if you want.
- put beans in slow cooker or pressure cooker.
- add diced onion and peppers, crushed or minced garlic, ham hocks and black pepper.
- cover with water, 2-3 inches above ingredients (more or less depending on how saucy you want them).
- cook in crockpot on low for 6-8 hours or.
- cook in pressure cooker for 30-40 minutes.

<p>I got married in July 08 and I am learning how to cook regular meals for our family. I want to eat healthy, but mu husband's three food groups are meat, gravy, potatoes(preferably fried). YIKES!! His dad is the same, maybe worse. His mom figured out how to cook meals with the option of leaving out the unhealthy parts for her, not wasting food her husband won't eat, while saving the time of not cooking two meals. That is my goal. Well, my dream is that my husband will start eating healthy, but for now I need to improvise! Plus, we are working hard building a business, so I need recipes that are quick and easy.</p>
