  1. I peeled and chopped some apples and pears. Add the sugar, water and cinnamon to the pot and boiled the fruit until it was a little softer. Added the fruit, batter, and sprinkled a bit of cornstarch on top before pouring the now hot water mix over. As you can see from the photo, it came out great. Taste was perfect. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Great! Made this twice in a week, once with frozen blackberries, once with apples. Omitted the cinnamon with the blackberries and made as written with the apples. Used an 11 x 7 baking dish. The first time, cut in the butter, the second, melted it first and stirred in which was much faster. The family loved it, and it went together in a flash. Best when let rest about 15 minutes after removing from the oven to allow the liquids to thicken a bit. Thanks for sharing the recipe!!

  3. My dad loved it. I used bing and rainier cherries- turned out great! I did use a little less sugar for the top mix and it was still really good. Thanks! It was delicious! Looking forward to trying other fruits too.

  4. It doesn't seem like there is enough flour to make the dough into a ball, but it turned out delicious even so. I am making this again tonight!

  5. Delicious. Used a combination of apples and raisins for the fruit with some added brown sugar and a dash of cinnamon. Put the dough on top in 'blobs' as directed in a zmail from oilpatchjo. Did not stir in Step 6 either. A wonder fruit and saucy dessert. Yum.

I was so touched by the responses to my inquiries on Recipezaar. If it wasn't for the fact I lost my favourite cheesecake recipe and was determined to find one similar or the same I would not have found Reipezaar so I just have to tell my story. I had lost this recipe in moving and I bought several baking books and searched the web for months in my desperate search. Extremely late one night I found Recipezaar and posted my lost recipe as best as I could remember. The next day in the forum there it was posted the&nbsp;&nbsp;one and only lost cheesecake recipe. I knew it was the one from some of the ingredients. Several chefs gave me other recipes including New York Cheesecake by Tyler Florence which is wonderful as well which includes the Cherry Confit topping in the recipe which we adore. On September 19, 2006 this story had a happy ending with me finding my old cheesecake recipe. I thought I will never lose it again by posting it on Recipezaar.recipe #186938.That is why I'm hooked on this wonderful web site called Food!&nbsp;</p>
