"The best apple pies always have a cheddar cheese crust and this is no exception. I found this in an old cookbook years ago, can't remember the name, but it's a great piece of pie!"

  1. I wanted to make an apple cheddar pie for my boyfriend since he loves apple pie with a slice of cheddar on top so I wanted the next best thing. I used extra sharp Tillamook cheese and fuji apples and the pie was amazing! He loved it along with my mother who said it was the best apple pie she'd ever had and her boyfriend called it "phenomenal." I am definitely putting this in my cookbook and making it again. Thanks for a great easy recipe!

  2. Daughter #2 just loved this. I used 7 cups of very tart apples, and extra sharp cheddar. The quantity of apples used might depend on the type, some bake down more than others. I thought it was a very sweet pie, in both the filling and the streusal, but she likes her pies that way. I think for my honey and I, I will decrease the sugar significantly, next time I make this. A beautiful looking pie, thanks for the recipe!
