Apple Crisp

"This is an adapation of Cindi Bauer's Apple Crisp recipe #62131. I didn't want to mess with peeling and slicing apples, so I made a few changes, and here is my version. It comes out more like a cobbler."

  1. I followed the recipe as written and we all enjoyed this.

  2. Yum! Made this using 1 litre of homemade pie filling. Could have probably used more, but wasn't sure as the can size wasn't specified. Left out the added sugar on top of the apple filling, and proceeded with the oatmeal topping as directed. Baked in a 8x10 casserole. Prepared this way we got about 4 servings, but probably would have gotten at least 6 if I had used more apple filling. Quick, easy, satisfying.

  3. I love to bake and I have a mad sweet tooth. Sometimes, when I am in the mood for a dessert-y good, I am feeling terrifically ambitious and don't mind a complicated, involved recipe. Other times, however, I am lazy. When I felt like a fall dessert a few days ago, I was feeling lazy. :) I stumbled upon this recipe and it fit the bill labor and ingredient-wise, but I wasn't sure that a dessert so simple could taste good. Well, it tastes AMAZING! I love that it was super simple and required few, common ingredients (I love that it requires no eggs) yet was absolutely delectable! I actually doubled the topping recipe and would recommend doing so, but for a more intense apple flavor it would probably be just as good without doing that. I am so impressed with this recipe and will certainly make it many times in the future! Thanks for posting this new favorite. :)

I live on a 20 acre farm with my husband of 25 years. My all time favorite cookbook would have to be Southern Living. I love to cook for large gatherings like family reunions. My "chow" as the family calls it usually gets rave reviews. If I had a month off all expenses paid I would travel around the US trying different foods. I lived in Turkey for 2 years with a previous husband and loved the foods they served. I have 5 children none of which inherited my love of cooking. But they sure love to eat mine. My biggest pet peeve is someone saying "I can't make that" and they haven't even tried. My philosphy on cooking is you don't know what you can do until you try. I am the world's worst/best at making what my family calls concoctions. Which by the way one daughter in law tries to copy.
