Apple Crunch

"I got this from one of my co-workers when she brought it to a pot luck. She said she got it from her Grandmother. Its quick, easy and you can do it with any type of fruit. None of the ingredients need to be exact but can be increased to fit the pan size or your personal taste."

directions

  • Mix apples tapioca and sugar together and dump into your pan.
  • Mix the oarmeal, sugar & flour together, work butter in with a fork or your fingers. It should be sorta crumbly.
  • Pour onto the top of filling and pat lightly.
  • place into preheated 350 degree oven and bake 30 to 45 minutes until lightly golden brown.
  • Note - if you cook it too long the top will get quite hard, if you cover w/ foil while hot it will soften. Also adding too much sugar will make your topping almost like a hard cookie.

Born and raised in Petaluma Calif, I have lived in New York City, Virginia, Tenn/Kentucky, Okinawa & N. Carolina, yes Dorthy, "There's no place like home!" I've always loved cooking. I've been exposed to so many different types of cooking (was an Army wife for a while) and I found them all facinating. I think I'm best at cooking improv. and cookie baking. I have a real passion for learning how it was done "back in the day" You know, how did the homemaker make soap, grow their own herbs, make their own sour dough starter, etc. I collect old kitchen tools and gadgets and use them in my food prep and cooking. I really dislike "store bought" processed food and am always trying to find the "old fashion" ways that food was orginally made before it was mass produced.
