  • Cream together applesauce, sugar, and Crisco (the Crisco will be slightly chunky).
  • Mix in egg and vanilla.
  • Sift together all dry ingredients (except chocolate chips) and mix in with wet ingredients just until blended. Don't over mix.
  • Hand mix chocolate chips just until blended.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line two cookie sheets with parchment paper or grease with cooking spray.
  • Spoon dough 2-3 inches apart on the sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes. When they are done, the cookies will have a soft cakelike texture.
