  1. BASE:
  2. Cream together butter and sugar; add flour and stir until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Press into bottom of and one-inch up sides of the 9-inch square springform pan. Spread jam on the bottom crust.
  3. FILLING:
  4. Mix the filling ingredients until smooth and spread evenly over base.
  5. TOPPING:
  6. Top apple slices with sugar and cinnamon and arrange gently over filling. Sprinkle slivered almonds over the top. Place.
  7. Place springform pan on a baking sheet and bake in a preheated 400F oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350F and continue baking for 30 minutes or until apples are tender. Cool, serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
