"Light but hearty bread machine recipe with apples and nice spices. Found this on another web site and it was credited as originally coming from The Ultimate Bread Machine Cookbook. I added more yeast and slightly more apples. The crust is a bit crunchy, which I like."

2 ¹⁄₂ teaspoons yeast
2 ²⁄₃ cups bread flour
¹⁄₃ cup whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
¹⁄₄ teaspoon nutmeg
1 ¹⁄₂ teaspoons salt
2 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons powdered milk
1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon margarine
¹⁄₂ cup water (plus 3 tablespoons)
1 cup apple, tart, chopped and peeled (around 2 apples)
1 teaspoon lemon juice

directions

Place ingredients in bread machine in the order recommended for your machine. Medium setting, 1 1/2 or 2 pound loaf setting. I used the 2 pound setting when I made it.
