  1. Had this for dessert on Sunday. It was good but not a favorite.

  2. This was wonderful! The only thing different I did was use a entire quart of my homemade applesauce that I have in abundance. I took it to a church function that served a ham dinner. It was the perfect accompaniment! It tasted like pineapple upside downcake. I brought home an empty dish even though there were tons of other desserts left over. This was really a hit and I was fortunate to be able to get a piece to sample myself for the review. I will definitely make this again. It will be much cheaper for me to make than those dumpcakes which have pie filling in them also. Thanks for posting such a nice and tasty dish that doesn't taste like 'dumpcake' at all!

Tweaks

  1. I used carrot cake mix on top and in was so yummy with the applesauce and pineapple. I have learned that you can use any type of cake mix for a dump cake as well. Another good one is using both cherry pie filling and strawberry pie filling with a devils food chocolate cake mix....talk about scrumptious...just experiment. It never hurts to put a little twist on anything...

I live in Utah and work as a secretary for the local university. I got married in Dec. of 2004, and cooking has become my greatest hobby. I love to try new things and I'm trying to broaden my husband's culinary tastes (before we got married, the only spices he was aware of were salt and pepper, if you count them as spices). I like all of my cookbooks, though Tai food is probably my favorite. I don't want anymore cookbooks, though, b/c cookbooks are supposed to be used, and I've got enough to fill a menu in one month without repeating any cookbooks...I go straight through them, trying every recipe and marking it with a code to know when, if, and how I should make it again.
