  • Mix dry ingredients together.
  • cream butter and sugar til light.
  • Add egg.
  • add FLour mixture alternatively with applesauce.
  • Fold in raisins and nuts.
  • Bake in greased loaf pan 350F 1 hour.

  1. I made a minor change by using nutmeg instead of cloves, plus I used an 8x8 glass baking dish. I didn't want to use my oven for an hour in July :) The 350 oven temperature takes 33-35 minutes. I added 1/2 cup gold raisins and 1/2 cup chopped walnuts. I was happy with the cake. Very tasty! A person might like to top it with some additional applesauce or vanilla yogurt. I will be making this again! Yummy!
     
  2. I an not looking for a loaf cake that falls in the center, (as shown in the photo). But I will happiily try again. :)
     
  3. this makes a dense moist loaf and is very easy to put together. i would use less raisins in the future, but that's a personal preference. this was enjoyed by my co-workers.
