directions

  • Mix sugar and water and bring to a boil.
  • Add lemon juice and boil for 7 more minutes.
  • When cool, add orange blossom water. (This is optional, I never add it to my syrup).
  • Makes approximately 2 cups of attar (syrup).
  • *To make Thin Attar (syrup), follow the recipe, using 1 1/2 cups of water instead. This will make about 2 1/2 cups of attar (syrup).

  1. I prefer orange blossom water over rose water so this syrup was perfect for the homemade donuts. Made for Ramadan Tag 09.

  3. Excellent recipe. Very easy to make and the perfect accompaniment to a lot of the Palestinian desserts I've been making lately. Thank you :)

  4. What a wonderful taste! The orange blossom water is what compelled me to try this. I like flavored syrups and this recipe is the most different to any I've made. I made half the recipe which was a perfect amount for me. On the "syrup scale" this gets five-stars!

  5. This is the best attar I have ever made. We prefer orange blossom in our attar over any with rose water. I am also raving about the consistency of it though. The amount of water to sugar is perfect. Even though I am saying that I did reduce the sugar a little and may do so again. I will use this recipe from now on even if I want to alter the flavoring.
