  • Cream shortening& sugars; add eggs& vanilla, beat well.
  • Add dry ingredients, oats& nuts, mixing well.
  • Form dough into 3 squared-off logs, wrap in aluminum foil& chill well (about 2 hours).
  • When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350F.
  • Cut dough into 1/4" slices, place about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets& bake 15 minutes.
  • Remove cookies to wire rack to cool completely.
  • **NOTE:Prep time includes chill time!

I have been a Central Illinois resident all my life. My hobbies include fishing with my husband, reading, counted cross stitch, and of course, cooking (especially baking)! I currently work in an office, behind a desk, pushing paper. My dream would be to open my own bakery.
