Aunt Carol's Molasses Sugar Cookies

"These are soft and chewy. They are the only molasses/gingersnap cookie I have ever liked. And, I love these. They are wonderful dipped in coffee."

  • Melt shortening over low heat. Remove from heat and let cool.
  • Add sugar, molasses, and egg; beating well.
  • Add dry ingredients.
  • Chill.
  • Roll into 1 inch balls and roll in white sugar. Press down with a fork or glass on top of each ball.
  • Bake 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees.
