Aunt Tooti's Tuna Heroes

"This was a recipe that was given to my mother from my Aunt who passed away about 12 years ago. It sounds a little weird but is actually very, very good and easy to make!"

  1. We really enjoyed these! I made some changes to lighten the recipe a bit. Like another poster, I only used a very small amount of butter on each sandwich (I even left the butter out of one entirely, and couldn't tell the difference). I also used low-fat mayo (but did use full-fat sour cream). Other than that, I followed the directions just as written, and was very happy with the result...it still tasted very rich. I'll be making these again -- thanks for sharing!

  2. These sandwiches are so yummy! I halved the recipe and used just a smear of butter instead of the amount of margarine called for. Also subbed light mayo and plain yogurt for sour cream cause I was out. Fresh parsley and fresh lemon juice are lovely. I didn't find the dressing too tangy but it did contrast nicely with the cheesy melty Swiss (used 2% reduced fat real cheese slices, not that processed stuff). Easy but special. Thanks for sharing your recipe! Made for PAC Fall 2007.

  3. The dressing is deliciously tangy. I substituted chopped scallions for the chopped parsley. An easy and satisfying lunch.

  4. Yum! Delicious. I loved the sour cream and lemon. Easy to make ahead and store in the refrig for a couple of hours until ready to heat and serve.
