"My daughter can't stand canned Sloppy Joes because of the onions and bell peppers in it so I came up with this plain version. Even my husband likes it."

  1. Made this tonight and really enjoyed it! The texture the just right- not too soupy. A tiny confession- I know this is supposed to be PLAIN sloppy joes, but I did add some dried onion flakes. Thanks for a great, SIMPLE recipe! :-)

  2. I am the same as your daughter-HATE the canned stuff. But my husband loves it. So when we wanted sloppy joes the other night, of course it was a fight over homemade or canned. I won (HA!) and made this. He loved it and said that he'd choose this over the canned stuff anytime. My 2 year old loved it too!

  3. The photo of this recipe that appeared on food.com's front page has been haunting me all week. I was in a total mess until I made this during the day today. Now, I feel better! This is a great, easy as peasy recipe to put on the stove-top, and snack away. I followed this exactly, except for adding some fresh tomatoes, and cooking them right along with the soup/mustard/ketchup. (*had some late summer tomatoes to use up) ~ and it tastes so good, you will want to have this on hand to use for after-school snacking. I can see serving them on toast, english muffins, or the slider rolls - or even hot dog rolls. In fact, you could serve this as a topping for hot dogs....the variations are endless. Thanks for posting such a winner, looneytunesfan! Hugs from the farm!

  4. In Germany not many people know sloppy joes. I lived in Texas 4 years and love to cook everything that comes from your country. I made sloppy joes ever since my daughter was little( she´s 20 now) and she just loves her sloppy joe. Thank you for this recipe!

  5. This gets five stars for ease of preparation and taste. It is so simple and tastes so good. I did add a little beef soup base and some chipotle pepper. We like out food spicy. Thanks for the recipe.
